HaRav Matisyahu Salomon was born on November 28, 1937, and passed away on January 2, 2024; he was a master of Torah and Mussar. His wisdom and teachings touched the lives of thousands. Hatzolah responders rushed to his home on Tuesday night when he fell ill, but unfortunately, they were unable to revive him.
The Mashgiach was born in Gateshead, England, and spent 16 years studying in yeshiva and Kollel. He was a disciple of Rabbi Eliyahu Lopian and followed the philosophy of the Kelm mussar school. After serving as a Mashgiach at Gateshead Yeshiva, he moved to Lakewood in 1998, following the passing of Rav Nosson Wachtfogel zt"l, to assume the position of Mashgiach at Beth Medrash Govoah.
Throughout his life, The Mashgiach delivered inspiring Shmuesin (Mussar discourses) and Shiurim (lectures) on various topics, which have been compiled into seforim named "Matnas Chaim." He also organized a mass gathering of over 40,000 people at Citi Field Stadium in May 2012 to raise awareness about the potential dangers of the internet.
Rav Matisyahu Salomon's contributions to Torah and the Lakewood community cannot be overstated. May his memory be a blessing.
