Omitting parts of Pesukei D’zimra to pray with a minyan:
As mentioned last week, one should recite Pesukei D’zimra slowly, as if counting money. Therefore, one should make an effort to arrive at the shul early enough to pray at an appropriate pace.
If one happened to come so late that if he were to recite the entire Pesukei D’zimra, he would not finish in time to recite Shemona Esrei together with the congregation, some authorities permit him to omit certain sections of Pesukei D’zimra to pray with a minyan. (MB 52.1)
One who arrives late for Shachris and wishes to catch up with the congregation should recite all the morning blessings, even if he postpones some parts of Pesukei D’zimra until after Shachris.
Some hold it is better to say fewer verses with more concentration than to say the entire Pesukei D’Zimra with less concentration. (AH 51.9)
The three most essential sections of Pesukei D’zones are Baruch She’amar, Ashrei, and Yishtabach. Therefore, to determine how much of Pesukei D’zimra may be omitted, one must first determine how long it will take to recite the three essential sections and how much time remains afterward.
Therefore, when time is limited, one should recite the more critical Perakim. If one finds he has more time than initially thought, he can add other Perakim later, even though he will recite them out of their usual sequence. (MB 52.1)
One may NOT do this regularly.
If a later minyan is available, one should not omit any part of Pesukei D’zimra but should pray with a later minyan unless he is praying in his usual minyan.
The order of priority:
1) ברוך שאמר, אשרי, ישתבח
2) הללויה הללו את ה׳, הללויה הללו אל
3) The other three הללויה in the order they appear.
5) for those who recite Hodu after Baruch She’amar (For those who recite Hodu before Baruch She’amar, everything after Baruch She’amar takes precedence. (SA Rema 52.1, Kaf Ha’chaim 52.3)
6) The rest of Pesukei D’zimra are in order of appearance.
Some hold that if one omits sections of Pesukei D’zimra for lack of time, one should recite them after prayers.
