Moshe chronicled the Israelites' journey from Egypt as guided by God, passing through various locations from Rameses to Moav. God instructed the Israelites to dispose of all land inhabitants upon crossing the Jordan into Canaan, destroy their objects and cult places, and settle there. The land was to be divided among them by lot, with shares varying by clan size. God warned that failure to dispossess the inhabitants would lead to troubles. Boundaries, including the Dead Sea and the River Jordan, were outlined. Levites were to receive towns and land. Cities of Refuge were designated for those unintentionally causing harm. Moshe directed the Israelites on marriage within tribes. The daughters of Tzelophehad followed this guidance, marrying men from their father's tribe.
