Parshas Tazria

Instructed by God, Moshe conveyed to the Israelites the regulations about the impurity of women after childbirth. A woman giving birth to a boy would be considered impure for seven days, followed by 33 days of purification. Conversely, if she gave birth to a girl, the period of uncleanness would extend to 14 days, with 66 days for purification. Upon completion of the purification period, the woman was to present an offering to atone for her. Additionally, Moshe and Aaron were instructed by God to direct individuals with certain skin conditions named Tzaraas to the priest for examination. The priest would assess the condition to determine its cleanliness status, conducting a follow-up examination on the seventh day. The text further details the protocol for individuals with Tzaraas affecting the head or beard, requiring them to announce their unclean status and reside outside the camp. The priest would also assess any fabric or skin showing signs of a green or red affliction. If found impure, the item was to be burned. If the affliction disappeared after washing, the item would undergo a week of observation, followed by another washing to ensure purity.
