An Evening with Giants: Embracing the Eternal through Rabbi Elchonon Wasserman's Encounter with the Chofetz Chaim

Step back in time with us for a spellbinding encounter that bridges generations as we share an evening with the colossal Torah figures Rabbi Chonan Wasserman and the Chofetz Chaim. When Rabbi Wasserman and his disciples are granted an audience after Rosh Hashanah prayers, they receive a potent message that resonates through the ages. This isn't just another tale; it's a lesson in spiritual endurance and the promise of eternal reward. Rabbi Waxman, our guest, amplifies this poignant narrative, distilling wisdom about life's challenges and the afterlife's rewards that are as relevant today as they were then.

Prepare to be inspired by a story that's more than mere history—it's a catalyst for personal transformation. The intimate dialogue between the Chofetz Chaim and his visitors reminds us that we, too, can secure our 'box seats' in the World to Come, no matter the trials of our times. In a world brimming with temptation and moral tests, the opportunities to ascend spiritually have never been more excellent. This episode isn't just motivation; it's a testament to the heights we can reach with conviction and a heartening reminder that our actions today can lead to eternal splendor tomorrow.

00:00:01.782 --> 00:00:19.146
Tonight is a special edition, a story time edition of the Motivation Congregation, and we will meet two Titanic Torah Giants in a story that can energize, encourage and hopefully motivate even for many years to come.

00:00:19.146 --> 00:00:42.871
Now you can imagine that it was the experience of a lifetime and everybody wished to be chosen and Rabbi Chonan Wasserman, a great Rashi Sheva of Baranovich, would select only a very few amount of Bahram that would journey with him up to the town of Radin where they would spend Rashi Shana with Rabbi Chonan's Rebbe, the Holy Hove Tchai.

00:00:42.871 --> 00:01:09.911
Now our story really begins when, after Davening, after the first night of Rashi Shana, after they recharged their batteries in a spiritually power packed Davening, watching the Chavitzchayim's devotion, as per their custom, the congregants and the disciples of the Shul walked past the Rav to say a good Yantif, a good Yor, a Kassiva, a Kastim, a Taiva.

00:01:09.911 --> 00:01:14.760
So Rabbi Chonan led his Talmudim towards the Chavitzchayim to go shake the Chavitzchayim's hand.

00:01:14.760 --> 00:01:24.609
And then the Chavitzchayim turned towards these students and said now, bahram, please stay around here afterwards, for I'd like to talk to you in private.

00:01:24.609 --> 00:01:31.590
The Bahram scurried over to his study, the side room, after everyone else left, rabbi Chonan, the Bahram waiting there in the study.

00:01:31.590 --> 00:01:42.483
The Chavitzchayim walked in, he sat down and he told them Bahram, I really wanted to meet you, to speak to you and listen why?

00:01:43.826 --> 00:01:56.152
Because in Parashas Vayigash, when Yaakov hears the great news, the good tidings that his son, yosef, he lives, yaakov is filled with Simcha.

00:01:56.152 --> 00:02:03.673
His prophecy returns and he says Eylech Varena, now let us go see him, bateram Amos, before I die.

00:02:03.673 --> 00:02:05.442
Chavitzchayim points out.

00:02:05.442 --> 00:02:08.390
Why does Yaakov need to see Yosef before he dies?

00:02:08.390 --> 00:02:19.352
For we believe in the afterlife, olam Habba, and we're told that all of the Tzadikim sit in a big circle with crowns on their heads, singing Kumbaya and just enjoying the paradise.

00:02:19.352 --> 00:02:22.367
So Yaakov and Yosef will just hang out in the next world.

00:02:22.367 --> 00:02:27.372
Why does Yaakov need to go see Yosef, bateram, almost before he dies?

00:02:27.372 --> 00:02:30.984
We'll be time for that For the Chavitzchayim.

00:02:30.984 --> 00:03:01.360
Because Yaakov was saying but he wasn't sure if he was going to be able to see Yosef in the next world because Yosef has withstood many more challenges and temptations and he has overcome that much more and that will put him in a certain section in those box seats in Olam Habba, that I am fearful, that I have not withstood those same level of trials and tribulations and therefore maybe Yosef will be at a higher spot and I won't see him.

00:03:01.360 --> 00:03:02.383
So let's go see him.

00:03:02.383 --> 00:03:04.889
Eylech Varena Bateram, almost before I die.

00:03:05.561 --> 00:03:28.012
And the Chavitzchayim turned towards the Bacharman, said I wanted to meet you guys, because what's coming in the world and the Yetzahara and his strength and the immorality, and that what you are going to have to stand up against, if you are successful and they put you in a spot in Olam Habba that I won't be able to be in your mechitza and see you.

00:03:28.012 --> 00:03:29.743
So I wanted to meet you.

00:03:29.743 --> 00:03:29.884
Now.

00:03:29.884 --> 00:03:32.784
It's in chills down your spine.

00:03:32.784 --> 00:03:37.209
I heard the story from Rabbi Waxman, the great Rosh Hashiva and the great Magi.

00:03:37.209 --> 00:04:07.012
It seems we are judged and we are rewarded based on the pain and based on what we give up for Hashem, and while the world does present a certain accessibility to immorality and problems that have never before been seen in history, that also has presented us with a very unique, opportune time and opportunity to leapfrog all the way to the very top, to secure those box seats.

00:04:07.012 --> 00:04:11.325
Like Josef had said Elich vererene, beterem amus.

00:04:11.325 --> 00:04:20.620
Take full advantage from this inspiration of just how you can secure so much in such a little amount of time.
