Don't Get Better; Get Higher | Alter of Slabodka

This Dvar Torah from the Alter of Slabodka gives us a revolutionary understanding of life. He states that each of us is king and queen, part of a kingdom of holy priests and a holy nation. We must never forget this fact and use it to guide our lives. He encourages us to live with regality, strength, and courage - as befits royalty. It's easy to get caught up in the mundanity of day-to-day life and forget that we carry an inherent power that gives us special status within ourselves. However, by taking the time to contemplate these teachings, we can reawaken those feelings of greatness that lie dormant.

I don't take it for granted for one second, but I also understand that the dream will one day end. To be a Yeshiva guy, a cool guy, someone who has great merit, to be within the confines of the beis medrash, to be sequestered amongst all holiness, and not to have to deal with the outside world is a tremendous blessing. I don't take it for granted. I also recognize that the days of par Nasso, the days of fulfilling my ketubah to go ahead and get a real job, a real job to go out, whether it be taking the train to midtown Manhattan or a desk job in New Jersey, I understand that day is coming. I don't take these days for granted. Now, one thing frightens me and shakes me to the core. There's not a day that goes by, honestly, that I don't think about. What about the new challenges that I'll be faced with? What about all the new things that I still need to prepare for I haven't designed for? What about all the gross billboards we will have to look at and all the different ways other people act that Jewish people don't work? It scares me. This vote from the altar. Ok.

The alter gives me peace of mind, at least if I can get this done. Says the altar. Our Pasuk tells us in our power show and lets so we can cue the sound effects. Noisy [inaudible] The grand reveal at Harena, the 10 Commandments given that day. Something weird happened, though the Jewish people became [inaudible]. [inaudible] We became a kingdom of holy priests and a nation. We became elevated. It says Rashi, not like the Ramban Le Nasos. According to Ramban, it happened not as a test like we discussed earlier, but Rashi says, Lin. NAOs means that Claudiare became raised, became elevated. [inaudible] The day of Harini, we became next level. We got hops says the altar don't look to get better, look to get higher. We are kings; we are queens. For a Jewish woman, the laws of modesty can become more and more challenging as the guidelines of basic decency and humility in the world of just melted.

But when a person understands I'm a queen, I imagine CS would be much easier when I'm young. Jewish male understands that I am a nation of kings. I am scared, and I am holy; I am exalted. That would help to put them on a different playing field. You say I got hops. You say, get on my level to the evil Inclination; these things melt away, says the altar of sl, because they're not on your level. They get off the elevator on the sixth floor, and you get off on the seventh floor. This far gives me peace. Let us understand the reality that we are holy. We are a kingdom of priests. A nation that is heavenly and holy. Don't get better; get higher. Raise yourself.
