00:00:02.044 --> 00:00:04.108
You can't prepare for situations like these.

00:00:04.108 --> 00:00:07.786
This was totally out of the blue, unexpected.

00:00:07.786 --> 00:00:24.231
It was this past Shabbos that I woke up and went to go see my two-year-old daughter when I noticed that she had a little bug bite that wasn't doing so well.

00:00:24.231 --> 00:00:25.882
It was inflamed.

00:00:25.882 --> 00:00:30.672
It seemed to be maybe being infected.

00:00:30.672 --> 00:00:32.121
It was swollen.

00:00:32.121 --> 00:00:35.287
It's a sacana, maybe.

00:00:35.287 --> 00:00:37.411
Is it not what to do?

00:00:37.411 --> 00:00:38.673
Do we need Hatzalo?

00:00:38.673 --> 00:00:40.865
Is it refuah on Shabbos?

00:00:40.865 --> 00:00:42.710
What do we do?

00:00:42.710 --> 00:00:43.671
Do we go to the hospital?

00:00:44.923 --> 00:00:52.073
And after a crazy day, I learned a lot about myself and a lot about the Jewish world, and I'd like to share some of the takeaways with you.

00:00:52.073 --> 00:00:54.323
Perhaps you will find them to be of value.

00:00:54.323 --> 00:01:10.388
The first thing I learned is when I'm me, my wife, we decided that I would take my daughter to Shul to find a Hatzalo member, and I learned that there are a whole lot of Hatzalo members in the Jewish world, for I was swamped with the Hatzalo agents of sorts.

00:01:10.388 --> 00:01:15.245
It came over to help me and I was blown away by how caring and loving each one was.

00:01:15.245 --> 00:01:31.768
When they phoned the head medic with their famous walkie-talkies, I met an even nicer individual who coached me and examined my daughter, and that it doesn't look very serious, but it needs to be checked out to make sure it could be that there's a sacana.

00:01:31.768 --> 00:01:45.105
I then want to speak to the Rove to see how do I go about going to the hospital, getting this CAT scan or X-ray of sorts on Shabbos, and I learned the importance of having a Rove to answer these questions.

00:01:45.105 --> 00:01:50.918
But there's a lot of ambiguity and certainty of how to go about Shabbos and breaking the law on Shabbos.

00:01:50.918 --> 00:01:51.299
What do you do?

00:01:51.299 --> 00:01:59.046
But when you have a Rove who tells you definitively, with clarity this is what you do, it's worth a million dollars, not more.

00:02:00.728 --> 00:02:07.462
Then, ordering an Uber on Shabbos was a weird experience, but if you're going on Shabbos COVID anionic you got to do it right.

00:02:07.462 --> 00:02:13.521
You got to get a nice Uber XL Traveling on an Uber in an Uber on Shabbos.

00:02:13.521 --> 00:02:14.945
We then got to the hospital.

00:02:14.945 --> 00:02:28.975
My daughter is in good spirits and she meets this elderly white gentleman, a Caucasian fellow, in a bright red suit that we call Santa Claus, and she mistook him for Uncle Maishi.

00:02:28.975 --> 00:02:31.582
I learned how sheltered my daughter is.

00:02:31.582 --> 00:02:33.086
I say that fondly.

00:02:33.086 --> 00:02:38.223
Then, eventually, when we got some prescription, we got a medication.

00:02:38.223 --> 00:02:39.026
She's totally fine.

00:02:39.026 --> 00:02:41.324
Everything was happy and we took the Uber back.

00:02:41.324 --> 00:02:44.376
We're back in time for Mincha, for the Suda.

00:02:44.376 --> 00:02:46.105
It's never too late for some herring.

00:02:46.105 --> 00:02:51.146
Everyone was feeling totally well as a bracha from Hashem Crisis averted, thank you to the Almighty.

00:02:53.132 --> 00:02:56.760
I learned that, oh yeah, it's Shabbos.

00:02:56.760 --> 00:02:59.044
I didn't feel like Shabbos.

00:02:59.044 --> 00:03:00.848
I was in a hospital.

00:03:00.848 --> 00:03:07.388
There was a TV on with National Geographic, we were in a car.

00:03:07.388 --> 00:03:17.461
I learned that well, it's not up to us that every seventh day of Shabbos it's Makadishah Shabbos, that Hashem makes it holy.

00:03:17.461 --> 00:03:27.741
But we're commanded, zachar of Hashemur, to dress the part, to hold up your hand with a glass of kiddish wine, to gather the family together to sing Zmiros.

00:03:27.741 --> 00:03:36.168
And I learned that we are in control of creating our own vibe, our own atmosphere and that aura of Shabbos.

00:03:36.168 --> 00:03:42.405
I learned that if one doesn't, then it's hard for one to feel Shabbos.

00:03:42.405 --> 00:03:52.495
And how we treat mitzvos and inyane kadooshah is very much how they will reciprocate and inspire and give off their light.

00:03:52.495 --> 00:04:16.701
Perhaps this is why we kiss our Sepharim, we march around with the Toyras and we put on our beautiful Shabbos begadim, kovid and inyane, because when we give Kovid and inyane to Shabbos, to a mitzvah I learned this past week but then the mitzvah reciprocates and we really feel it.
