Embracing Shavuos: What Does Torah Mean To You?

As we approach the holiday of Shavuos, I couldn't help but ponder the profound joy and anticipation that fills my heart. It's not just the festive air that captivates me; it's the deep connection to our spirituality and the divine wisdom that the Torah imparts. This episode is a personal reflection on the essence of Shavuos and an invitation to embrace the Torah with renewed passion. Together, we'll explore how the Torah is akin to the boundaries in a hockey game, providing structure and purpose to our lives and preventing us from descending into chaos.

I also share an introspective look at the Torah's impact on our understanding of suffering and how it gives us a sense of calm and direction toward the ultimate goal set for humanity. As we prepare for Shavuos, join me in this heartfelt celebration of heritage, the anticipation for studying Hashem's Torah, and express gratitude for being part of the Jewish community. This isn't just another holiday; it's a significant milestone in our spiritual journey, and I'm excited to share these insights with you.

00:00:01.221 --> 00:00:08.653
Let us be brutally honest with ourselves for a second and ask ourselves why is it that we are excited for the upcoming holiday of Shavuos?

00:00:08.653 --> 00:00:12.369
Are we indeed excited about the holiday?

00:00:12.369 --> 00:00:15.128
What does Kabbalah Satorah mean?

00:00:15.128 --> 00:00:17.106
Why do we want the Torah?

00:00:17.106 --> 00:01:14.691
Do we feel a big, warm, cozy feeling, a subtle happy feeling in our hearts when we think about Torah, kabbalah Torah and Hashem giving it to us on Harsinai, and it definitely feels like it's important that we don't just give it some lip service and say, oh, shavuot is a Torah that's not going to do it, but some real contemplation, some real thought about why it is that we love the Torah and we want to accept it anew with the Nasev Anishma on the upcoming holiday of Shavuos, and when I put some thought into it and put some thoughts down on paper, it hit me that without the Torah, life would be like a big hockey game, but there are no boards or walls around the ice hockey rink, but you can just go anywhere and do anything and the game loses all strategic chachma wisdom.

00:01:14.691 --> 00:01:17.048
It's really there's no point of the game.

00:01:17.048 --> 00:01:18.647
You can go anywhere and do anything.

00:01:18.647 --> 00:01:22.046
Life, the game is pointless.

00:01:23.120 --> 00:01:24.427
Torah gave us a code of conduct.

00:01:24.427 --> 00:01:26.260
It gave us some structure in Torah, gave us a code of conduct.

00:01:26.260 --> 00:01:37.727
It gave us some structure in which gave us opportunities to enjoy things and times to refrain from things, so that everything has shape and has structure, Like the cell wall does to a cell.

00:01:37.727 --> 00:01:42.968
It's the most important part, because otherwise you just have this big mess of people running all over the place.

00:01:42.968 --> 00:01:45.063
So Torah gives us structure.

00:01:45.927 --> 00:02:03.224
I thought further that without getting to be exposed to the truth, without a book of laws, without the connection to Hashem and the knowledge that he's watching over us, well then pain would just be suffering with no end and no goal.

00:02:03.224 --> 00:02:18.651
But Torah says there's a point to the suffering, there's a goal for humanity, there is a beratius and there's eventually going to be a Mashiach, and it's a 6,000-year world followed by the world of the tikkun, the ultimate.

00:02:18.651 --> 00:02:33.245
So it gave us a sense of calm, a sense of obligation and a sense of duty and a sense of that.

00:02:33.245 --> 00:02:34.288
There's a point down here.

00:02:34.288 --> 00:02:41.126
That's what Torah means to me and I encourage you to give thought to what does Torah mean to me.

00:02:41.126 --> 00:02:54.329
Why is it so special and why can't I wait to dance and to sing and to study Hashem's Torah on the upcoming holiday of Shavuos, ashreinu, ma'atob chalkenu, praiseworthy.

00:02:54.329 --> 00:02:55.760
How great is it to be a Jew?

00:02:55.760 --> 00:03:08.931
Thanks for watching.
