Embracing the Joy and Significance of Shavuos: A Celebration of Being Chosen

As we prepare for the holiday of Shavuos, I can't help but think about my own experiences and the significance of this joyous occasion. From shopping for new Yom Tov clothing for the kids to setting up our learning schedules for the night, we go all in to celebrate this holy holiday. But sometimes, amidst the hustle and bustle, we may overlook the true meaning and power of Shavuot. At the core of Shavuos, we find exuberant celebration and gratitude for being chosen by God to learn His Torah and walk in His ways. The Gemara says that on Shavuos, we all agree that we must celebrate with cheesecake and our parties because we should be proud of being chosen as children of God. I'll share a personal story about recognizing the significance and joy of our unique and special mission and how lucky we are to have been chosen by God. Don't miss this heartfelt reminder to rejoice, sing, and dance on Shavuos!

00:00:01.643 --> 00:00:04.011
Ah, the holiday of Shavu is upon us.

00:00:04.011 --> 00:00:08.449
Let me know if the following reenactment is the slightest bit relatable for you.

00:00:08.449 --> 00:00:10.884
You get the kids the new Yantiv clothing.

00:00:10.884 --> 00:00:12.108
You buy yourself a new tie.

00:00:12.108 --> 00:00:14.542
you buy your wife a Yantiv present.

00:00:14.542 --> 00:00:15.484
You're ready to go.

00:00:15.484 --> 00:00:18.431
You get the house all ready with the flowers.

00:00:18.431 --> 00:00:19.684
It's like Matantaira.

00:00:19.684 --> 00:00:23.602
You make sure you have your gemaras there and you set up your schedule for what you're gonna do.

00:00:23.602 --> 00:00:24.364
Shavu is night.

00:00:24.364 --> 00:00:26.641
Everything's ready to go.

00:00:26.641 --> 00:00:30.350
You get your Isaac's ram for the night, or the Yatir forest or whatever it is.

00:00:30.350 --> 00:00:32.104
You are ready.

00:00:32.104 --> 00:00:33.651
You're a mouchan for this.

00:00:33.710 --> 00:00:35.137
Holy holiday of Shavu is.

00:00:35.137 --> 00:00:37.185
You make your air of Taaf Shill, and don't forget that.

00:00:37.185 --> 00:00:39.002
You go to Daven.

00:00:39.002 --> 00:00:46.040
You make it as a Shabbuchah b'onimikolam irayimimonimikolashayimikidishonimimitwaisav Beautiful.

00:00:46.040 --> 00:00:47.143
You come home from Davening.

00:00:47.143 --> 00:00:49.970
You maybe eat a bit too much, but you still.

00:00:49.970 --> 00:00:50.722
You push through.

00:00:50.722 --> 00:00:51.465
You go to learn.

00:00:51.465 --> 00:00:53.606
It's two in the morning, still, you keep going.

00:00:53.606 --> 00:00:55.302
You see the guy in the corner, though.

00:00:55.302 --> 00:00:57.287
You know obsessive energy drink guys.

00:00:57.287 --> 00:01:01.695
Four red bulls in This guy's outside with the brownies and they're talking and learning.

00:01:01.695 --> 00:01:03.302
You're inside, you're learning more.

00:01:03.302 --> 00:01:05.213
You're a little bit shvach, a little sleepy.

00:01:05.213 --> 00:01:06.822
Maybe you'll do something more humish.

00:01:06.822 --> 00:01:18.251
Maybe this, this guy's, inspired him doing tikken khatzais, everything tikken l'al Shavu is, but sometimes, in the hustle, bustle, sometimes, the second day can become hard.

00:01:18.251 --> 00:01:21.046
Sometimes we can miss nuances of the holiday.

00:01:21.046 --> 00:01:28.025
Sometimes, without the proper mindset, the day that is so poachingly powerful to elevate us to new heights can be overlooked.

00:01:28.025 --> 00:01:28.963
And here's one approach.

00:01:28.963 --> 00:01:30.444
Give me 60 seconds.

00:01:30.444 --> 00:01:33.305
I first saw this from a Gershin Ribner.

00:01:33.305 --> 00:01:41.361
I subsequently saw it from the Asaibashashah Vahidah and ultimately saw it in the Gemara from the Amirabhiyay say start the 60 seconds now.

00:01:44.019 --> 00:01:55.769
Shvu is a day of being ecstatic and overjoyed that God chose us to learn his Taira, to become Kedai Shemti, to walk in the ways of God.

00:01:55.769 --> 00:02:08.090
It's an ultimate day of exuberant celebration And therefore our avayda is that this is a loving relationship, that we're so in love with Hashem that we stay up the whole entire night.

00:02:08.090 --> 00:02:10.066
Does it even make sense?

00:02:10.066 --> 00:02:15.627
Sometimes it ends up losing out on the Taira the next day, because if we went through the whole night, why can't I just learn during the day?

00:02:15.627 --> 00:02:22.562
Because sometimes when I have a Mikaukelesis as sure, when you're in love you do stupid things You just stay up the whole night.

00:02:22.562 --> 00:02:27.045
You want to do it, go ahead and you celebrate.

00:02:27.400 --> 00:02:37.389
As the Gemara says, on all holidays, it's unclear exactly if you must have Ghashmias, or maybe you could just spend your time in the synagogue learning and diving.

00:02:37.389 --> 00:02:40.848
But on Shvu is everyone agrees that you need to have cheesecake.

00:02:40.848 --> 00:02:42.600
You need to have your own party.

00:02:42.600 --> 00:02:47.111
You need to celebrate because God chose me, you should be proud.

00:02:47.111 --> 00:03:04.205
And if God forbid no, not God forbid if your celebrity that you know in the news should come to you and say you want my life for a second, you want to be on the front page of the news, you want the billion dollars and whatever it is that that celebrity has that they're coming to offer you, you want to switch for an hour, you should say I don't want it.

00:03:04.205 --> 00:03:07.128
My life is better because I was chosen to be a child of God.

00:03:07.128 --> 00:03:18.632
I was chosen to have an ultimate be bringing light onto the nations, to walk in Hashem's ways, and that makes me feel like I've got it all.

00:03:18.632 --> 00:03:31.907
It makes you dance outside like a Meshugana, because it's Ghashmaq's design and that's the avidah from Shvu is probably over 60 seconds, but I have to tell you I was walking in the airport, so something happens.

00:03:31.947 --> 00:03:37.342
If you live out of town, you get to have stories like this, and somebody asked me when they saw my tzitzis and they saw my Yamaka, i promise you.

00:03:37.342 --> 00:03:42.342
He told me what's it like to wake up in the morning and have something to live for.

00:03:42.342 --> 00:03:48.610
He said I try this the movie, the book.

00:03:48.610 --> 00:03:54.188
It's enjoyable, but ultimately, what's it like to have something that you live for and something you're willing to die for?

00:03:54.188 --> 00:03:56.004
It woke me up.

00:03:56.004 --> 00:04:08.049
It's Ghashmaq's design and Shvu is as Revyay safe said, if ilaib hayoy makama, ikoyoy sepe shuka, if na for today, then how many Joe Schmozer in the marketplace?

00:04:08.049 --> 00:04:09.692
but Shvu is made him a yoyse.

00:04:09.692 --> 00:04:26.841
Shvu is a day to celebrate that you have been chosen for this exalted, unique, special, unbelievable, enjoyable mission by Hakkodesh Baruch, and rejoice and sing and dance because this Ghashmaq's designer yid.

00:04:26.841 --> 00:04:29.504
And how lucky we are that Hakkodesh Baruch who chose us.
